UAE T20 League (International League T20 - ILT20)
The International League T20 (ILT20), sanctioned by the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), has quickly established itself as a prominent T20 cricket league in the United Arab Emirates. Despite being relatively new, it has attracted significant global attention due to its high-profile players, innovative structure, and strategic importance in promoting cricket in the UAE. Established in 2022, the league held its inaugural season in 2023 and quickly gained recognition as a premier tournament, attracting top international players.
Teams and Tournament Format
The ILT20 features six franchises representing different cities in the UAE:
- Abu Dhabi Knight Riders
- Dubai Capitals
- Desert Vipers
- Gulf Giants
- MI Emirates
- Sharjah Warriors
During the league stage, the tournament follows a double round-robin format, where each team plays every other team twice. The top four teams advance to the playoffs, which include Qualifier 1, an Eliminator, Qualifier 2, and the Final. This format ensures that every match carries weight and keeps fans engaged throughout the competition.
Key Players
The ILT20 has drawn some of the biggest names in cricket. Players like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, Andre Russell, Moeen Ali, and Wanindu Hasaranga have participated in past seasons. These international stars bring experience and excitement to the league while boosting its global appeal.
Note: The tournament requires each team to include at least two players under 23 years old, fostering young talent development.
