ICC World Cup

The first ICC Cricket World Cup took place in 1975 and was held in England. The competition included eight teams: England, Australia, West Indies, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, East Africa (composed of players from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Malawi), and a representative team from the International Cricket Council. The first World Cup was a 60-over contest for each team, which was distinct from the current 50-over structure. West Indies became the inaugural champions by beating Australia in the final match.

Over time, the tournament grew as additional teams became part of the competition. The structure of the competition was revamped with the addition of group stages and Super Sixes, resulting in a more organized format.
